“If most of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold it would be a merrier world.” - JRR Tolkien

The Lithedays (or just The Lithe) refers to the three feast days between the months of Forelithe and Afterlithe of the Shire Calendar. The three days are: 1 Lithe (midsummer-eve), Mid-year’s Day, and 2 Lithe. Mid-year’s Day is the middle day of the year that roughly corresponds with the summer solstice or Midsummer. In the Shire, the Free Fair is held during these Lithedays.

We admire the appreciation Hobbits have for simple pleasures and communal celebration. We started our Lithedays Festival in 2022 to create an annual opportunity to bring together friends for food, drink, and lots of fun.
